A chemical fire has forced evacuations in the town of Leoti in Wichita County in far western Kansas.
No details were released, but the evacuations were taking place in the northeast part of the city. Residents were told to stay away from the area north of the train tracks. Wheatland Electric Cooperative said its Leoti office was temporarily closed due to a nearby structure fire.
A temporary shelter has been set up at the community building for evacuees.
